The Project Team is committed to not only promoting academic advancement across and within disciplines, but also contributing to the society through providing research-related advice to various government departments and non-government organizations in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Observatory (HKO)
OUR CONTRIBUTION
Climate Research Forum
  • share views on the seasonal outlook for Hong Kong weather and climate as announced by HKO to the general public
  • review the scientific justification for these extended-range forecasts
  • present research findings to HKO staff members and local academics to improve their understanding on various issues affecting Hong Kong’s weather and climate, such as long-term climate change, potential maximum precipitation, heat waves, storm surges accompanying invasion of tropical cyclones, etc.
Environmental Protection Department (EPD)
OUR CONTRIBUTION
Air Quality Objectives (AQO) Review Working Group
  • review the latest development on air quality standards and the health effects of air pollution
  • advise on the methodologies on air science and health assessments, including emission estimation, air quality assessment and projection, cost benefit analysis of air quality improvement measures and health impact assessment
Working Group on Application of Numerical Models to Environmental Impact Assessment in Hong Kong
  • review the performance of Pollutants in the Atmosphere and their Transport over Hong Kong (“PATH-2016”) Modelling System in simulating air quality over the whole Pearl River Delta (PRD) region including Hong Kong
Business Environment Council

Road Transport Dialogue Platform
  • provide professional advice to local industry and policy makers on local future transportation development for sustainable environment
Knowledge Transfer
The Project Team endeavours to engage in knowledge transfer activities to arouse public awareness in the ways that climate change affects air quality, food supply and human health.
