We are thrilled to share highlights from our recent IEES Seminar Series, “Sustainable Solutions for Energy and Biodiversity,” held on June 20, 2024, as part of our 2024 seminar series in collaboration with SKLA (State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology, CUHK).

A Deep Dive into Sustainability and Biodiversity

This workshop brought together experts, researchers, and enthusiasts to explore innovative solutions for addressing the dual challenges of energy sustainability and biodiversity preservation. With the growing demand for sustainable energy and the urgent need to protect ecosystems, our multidisciplinary event showcased cutting-edge research and practical approaches to ecological restoration.

Attendees had the opportunity to learn about emerging technologies, policy frameworks, and collaborative opportunities aimed at developing sustainable energy and biodiversity solutions, with a particular focus on Hong Kong and beyond.

Meet Our Esteemed Speakers

We were honored to have two distinguished speakers share their insights:

• Prof. Jerome Hui
  Professor, School of Life Sciences, CUHK
  Prof. Hui provided a fascinating overview of biodiversity conservation strategies, emphasizing the role of ecological restoration in maintaining healthy ecosystems amidst energy development projects.
• Prof. Chun Chen
  Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, CUHK
  Prof. Chen discussed the latest advancements in sustainable energy technologies, highlighting how engineering innovations can support biodiversity while meeting energy demands.

Their presentations sparked engaging discussions, inspiring attendees to think critically about the intersection of energy and environmental sustainability.
