On January 11 2026, Director of National Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology (CUHK) and Director of IEES Professor Lam Hon-ming visited Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences and was welcomed by Yan Jiye, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President. The two sides held in-depth discussions on agricultural biotechnological breeding innovation, industry-academia-research collaboration, and joint training of young scientific talent, reaching multiple cooperative agreements.

Yan Jiye emphasized the value of Hong Kong’s experience in integrating international resources and building cooperation networks, noting the strong alignment between Professor Lam’s expertise in life sciences and agricultural biotechnology and the academy’s development goals. He expressed hope for deepened collaboration leveraging Hong Kong’s international platform. Professor Lam praised the academy’s achievements in agricultural research and application, proposing clearer collaboration priorities to advance joint innovation, technology transfer, and international project applications. During the visit, the delegation toured the academy’s exhibition hall and biological research facilities.
